SOLIHULL Moors eased to a 3-0 win away at Boreham Wood to finish third in the National League table as Neal Ardley’s side posted a new club-record points tally in the fifth tier.
Goals from Kyle Hudlin, Joe Sbarra and Adam Rooney at Meadow Park ensured Moors ended the regular season with five successive wins.
Solihull finish the campaign on 87 points having lost just seven matches in the league, the lowest of any team in the division.
And Moors took the lead on 15 minutes when Hudlin powered home a header after Harry Boyes’ free-kick was flicked on in the box.
The visitors were denied a second goal when Wood goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore produced a smart stop to keep out Callum Maycock’s effort after the midfielder had raced into the penalty area.
And the home side almost drew level soon after when Gus Mafuta’s shot was blocked by the outstretched legs of Moors keeper Joe McDonnell.
The chances continued to flow at Meadow Park when Sbarra’s curling effort from distance seemed destined for the top corner only for Ashmore to make a flying save.
However, the midfielder was not to be denied on 42 minutes when he pounced on a loose pass before producing a clinical finish into the corner to net his 18th goal of the season.
The home side rarely threatened the Solihull goal with Tyrone Marsh heading onto the roof of the net after he was left unmarked at the back post.
And Solihull wrapped up the win on 76 minutes when substitute Rooney scored from the penalty spot with his first touch after Alex Gudger was brought down inside the area.
Solihull are next in action against either Halifax or Chesterfield on Sunday, May 29 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the ARMCO Arena.
Ticket details for the tie will be announced in due course.
