FOOTBALL - Robins held by Coventry to remain unbeaten

KNOWLE let a first-half lead slip as the Robins were held to a 1-1 draw away at AFC Coventry Rangers to stretch their unbeaten run to 10 matches.

The visitors were in front at the break thanks to Owen Ward’s penalty only for a late Jordan Powell equaliser to ensure the spoils were shared at Coventry Technical Rugby Club.

And the result means Knowle sit second in the Midland Football League Division Two table, two points behind leaders Sutton United who have a game in hand.

The Robins were on top for much of the first period and were rewarded on 41 minutes when Ward scored a well-taken penalty.

However, Rangers improved after the break and equalised on 77 minutes when Powell glanced home a superb cross to draw the home side level.

And Knowle clung on at the death as Craig Johnson made a stunning save from point blank range to keep the scores level whilst captain Lewis Cosgrove made a crucial last-ditch tackle.

Knowle are next in action against West Midlands Regional League Division Two side P.S. Olympic on Saturday, October 15 with kick-off at 3pm at Bromley Lane.
