SOLIHULL Moors Women reached the FA Cup second round for the first time in their history with a 5-0 win away at Sedgley and Gornal United.

Cheryl Edwards scored twice at the end of the first half with Annie Highway, Eva Rogers and Lyndsey Ross-Baker all on target in a comfortable win.

And Moors have been drawn away at Coventry Sphinx Ladies in the next round with the tie to be played at 1pm on Sunday, November 27.

The visitors took the lead when Highway scored from the penalty spot after she was fouled in the area having missed an earlier chance.

Moors handed an FA Cup debut to teenager Katie Jamieson after Cheyanne Jarvis was forced off with an injury.

And Jamieson then picked out Highway on the edge of the penalty area before she found Rogers who lashed the ball home from six-yards out.

Solihull wrapped up the win when Edwards scored twice in the space of four minutes at the end of the first half, the second coming from Ross-Baker’s cross.

Gornal were unable to test Harley Savage in the Moors goal in the second period whilst substitute Becky Knight and Ross-Baker were both denied at the other end.

And Ross-Baker eventually wrapped up the win when she marauded down the right and delivered a cross-shot that looped over the keeper and into the top corner.

Solihull are next in action at home to Stourbridge on Sunday, November 20.
