EARLSWOOD Town ended the season with a morale-boosting 3-2 victory over tenants Barnt Green Spartak to guarantee a top-10 finish in Midland Football League Division Two.
Jordan McKenzie scored a brace for the Earls before Andy Matthews popped up with the winner in a five-goal thriller at The Pavilions.
The Earls can still drop down to 10th in the table should Coventry Alvis and Redditch Borough earn a point from their final fixtures respectively.
Earlswood opened the scoring against the run of play on 20 minutes when McKenzie slammed home his 10th goal of the season from close range after Matthews’ pass was dummied by Ryan Froggatt.
However, Barnt Green were level just two minutes later when Joshua Mussell scored from the penalty spot after Earls’ player-manager Tom Reynolds was adjudged to pulled down his man in the box.
And the home side took the lead on 25 minutes when Rene Adigbo’s free-kick evaded everybody and beat Town keeper Alistair Lewis.
The visitors rode their luck again before finding an equaliser on 40 minutes when McKenzie doubled his tally for the game after he nipped in ahead of Barnt Green keeper Callum Martin to convert Matthews’ ball in from the right.
Earlswood improved after the break and found the winning goal on 78 minutes when Matthews found the bottom right corner from McKenzie’s pass.
And despite Matthews picking up a second yellow card in the sixth minute of injury time, Earlswood held on to finish their season on a high.
