EARLSWOOD Town started fireworks season with a band when they beat Littleton 4-0 at home on Saturday.
Goals from Joe Kelso, Harry Dixon, Harry Street and Luke Woodward gave Earlswood their first win in six weeks and a much-needed clean sheet having shipped 17 goals in the last four games.
With manager Joel Hughes absent, assistant Jason Pyott took charge from the dugout and, right from the off, The Earls looked eager to bear their teeth right away.
After Keelan Reilly went close twice, Kelso found the breakthrough with a deflected effort from distance in the 23rd minute. The hosts were temporarily down to ten men with Reilly sent to the sin bin in the 36th minute but it failed to impact Earlswood’s momentum.
Five minutes later, in-form Dixon raced through to bag a trademark goal and register his 13th goal in as many games.
Littleton’s Tim Beatie was given his marching orders in the second half after being judged to have elbowed Dixon.
And, from then on, Littleton, who dished out a 6-0 beating at home to Earlswood earlier in the season, never looked likely to get back into the game.
Earls captain Street added a third goal in the 56th minute and Woodward rubber-stamped the convincing win by thumping home from close range after the goalkeeper fumbled an in-swinging corner from the left.
Earlswood, who are now 14th in the Midland League Division Two table, host Dunlop in the Coventry Charity Cup tomorrow (2pm).
