EARLSWOOD Town crashed out of the Les James Challenge Cup after they were thrashed 5-0 at home by divisional rivals Kenilworth Sporting.
The Earls were undone by Tyrone Wilson’s hat-trick and a Jacob Dodds brace at the Pavilions as the hosts suffered their heaviest home defeat of the season to exit the competition at the second hurdle.
And Earlswood thought they had taken the lead when the ball nestled in the Kenilworth net only for Mikey Bridges to be flagged for offside despite the final touch appearing to come off a Sporting player.
The home side then fell behind to Dodds’ first of the afternoon as he unleashed a 25-yard screamer before Wilson raced through to double Kenilworth’s lead just five minutes later.
And things went from bad to worse for the Earls as Wilson finished from close range to extend Kenilworth’s lead before Dodds smashed home a stunning free-kick from 30-yards out.
Earls goalkeeper Tom Day did his best to keep the score down before Wilson completed his treble when he rifled a shot into the roof of the net from six yards out.
Earlswood return to league action against Coventry Alvis on Saturday, February 4 with kick-off at 2.30pm at Alvis Sports and Social Club.
