MATT Taylor praised his side’s desire after Solihull Moors came from behind to draw 1-1 away at Hartlepool United.

Moors trailed to Tom Parkes’ goal early in the second half only for Manny Duku to draw Solihull level on 87 minutes at Victoria Park.

The result means Solihull sit 12th in the National League table as Moors stretched their unbeaten run to three matches.

And Taylor insists he will continue to challenge his players as Solihull look to finish the season strongly.

Taylor said: “We didn’t use the ball well enough or move it well enough in the first half, the patterns we worked on didn’t come out in the game.

“But the energy, effort and a real desire to want to defend our goal, the boys are throwing their bodies on the line.

“I’ll go with that every week, that effort, desire and willingness to put your body on the line.

“We got a well-deserved point, I’m going to continually challenge the players to be better with the ball.

“I’m really proud of each and every one of them in terms of the effort and endeavour they showed.

“I challenged the players before the game to continue the run and they’ve done that.

“The performance epitomises everything about this group of players, they’ve given everything for each other and for the shirt.

“If they do that week in week out and they’re working harder than the opposition then you’ve got an opportunity to win games.

“We would have liked to have had more points since I’ve come in, it hasn’t happened.

“It gives us something to build on, the players need to remain confident going into the next game.”

Hartlepool broke the deadlock on 54 minutes when Parkes looped a header over Ollie Wright from Jamie Miley’s free-kick.

A power cut in the stadium saw play delayed for almost 20 minutes with both teams keen to complete the fixture.

And Moors equalised three minutes from time as Duku headed in John Bostock’s free-kick from the right

Solihull are next in action against Tamworth in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday, March 18 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Lamb Ground.
