Follow in the golden footsteps of Olympic hero Justin Rose and take up golf

Solihull Editorial 18th Aug, 2016 Updated: 21st Oct, 2016   0

JUSTIN Rose’s golden performance at the Rio 2016 Olympics is set to inspire a new generation of golfers who are being encouraged to take up the sport in Solihull.

The England Golf ambassador became the first holder of an Olympic gold for golf since the sport’s return to the Games after 112 years.

And now would-be players in the area have the chance to enjoy free coaching to help them give golf a go – after the sport proved hugely popular at the Official Team GB FanZone held in Coventry.

As well as following the nation’s finest athletes on their quest for Olympic glory, the nationwide network of FanZones are offering fans – young and old, beginners and experts – the opportunity to try their hand at golf – as did 200 people when the FanZone visited Coventry.

England Golf’s Get into golf campaign partnered with Team GB to offer this fantastic opportunity to learn more about one of this summer’s most exciting Olympic sports.

Free golf coaching is continuing in Warwickshire throughout the summer with the Golf for u campaign running until the end of September every Wednesday at Solihull’s Tudor Grange Pitch and Putt. The timings are 3-4pm for adults, 4.30-5.30pm for families and 6-7pm for Adults.

Equipment will be provided and taster sessions will be provided by PGA professional Jason Powell. All people need to do is turn up on the day and wear comfortable clothing.

For more information about beginner courses, taster lessons and special events at clubs and ranges visit getintogolf.org/golfforu or call 0800 118 2766.
