Flowers impressed as Solihull Moors down Wrexham

TIM FLOWERS could not praise Solihull Moors enough as they downed title-hopefuls Wrexham 1-0 to continue their fine start to the National League campaign.

After Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Harrogate Town, Moors quickly got back on the winning trail by edging past former Football League outfit Wrexham on Monday afternoon.

Alex Gudger’s 82nd-minute goal was enough to inflict a first league defeat of the season on the visiting Red Dragons who dropped from first to second in the league standings.

As for Moors, they sit seventh having picked up 13 points from a possible 21.

Boss Flowers said: “It was a magnificent performance coming off the back of a disappointing result at Harrogate.

“It’s always difficult on a quick turnaround like that.

“We’ve got a small squad and every credit has to go to every single one of them.”

Moors make the trip to Barrow on Saturday followed by a visit to Leyton Orient on Tuesday.
