Flowers delighted with effort as Solihull Moors return to winning ways

SOLIHULL Moors bounced back to winning ways in the National League with a 2-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Dover Athletic.

Jermaine Hylton notched his first goal of the season to set Moors on their way as Tim Flowers’ men secured their third away victory of the campaign.

In a scrappy encounter at Crabble, Hylton’s 72nd minute opener was added to by Danny Wright as the Moors bounced back from two straight defeats in style.

“It was a first half of little quality,” said Flowers.

“There was plenty of endeavour but neither side had any real cutting edge.

“Dover paid us the respect because they matched us up with four of the biggest lads I’ve ever seen across the back – they were huge.

“You’ve got to compete, you’ve got to put your body on the line and be a man. I thought we did.

“It’s a fantastic result for us. I thought we were dealt a couple of bad hands in the last couple of games.

“The lads that came in showed terrific character and commitment to the club.”

Moors, who sit in eighth place with six wins from 11 games, play host to Bromley on Saturday and Flowers is looking to build on the positive start.

“To take six wins out of the first 11 games, I’d have torn your hands off before the season for that,” he added.
