Fans' favourite Edwards signs from Leamington to join National League Moors

FOOTBALL: PROVEN goalscorer Jack Edwards has signed for Solihull Moors after making more than 100 appearances with Conference North side Leamington.

The 27-year-old has signed a one-year deal with Moors after the 6’4″ defender helped guide Leamington to promotion last season.

Comfortable playing in defence or in midfield, Edwards is known for being a versatile and athletic player who is tidy on the ball.

He captained Nottingham Trent University and has a good upbringing over the past few years having been involved with teams that play different styles of football.

Edwards became a fans favourite at Leamington since signing from Barwell in 2014.

His status at the club was highlighted at the end of last season when he was awarded ‘Supporters Player of the Season’.

He made over 100 appearances in the gold and black of Leamington and finished second highest goal scorer at the club during the 2015/16 season, netting double figures.

He was an integral part of the Brakes squad that won promotion to the National League North via the play offs last month – and he scored the winning penalty in the club’s Birmingham Senior Cup Final triumph against Wolves at the Molinuex.

Moors boss Liam McDonald said: “I’m happy to get Jack across to Solihull Moors.

“He was a target as soon as the season finished, he’s been a standout performer over the last couple of season’s and will be an asset to the squad.

“The fact he is versatile helps and he’s outstanding in the air and it’s something we perhaps struggled with at times last season.”
