Earlswood rue missed penalty

Solihull Editorial 14th Sep, 2018   0

EARSLWOOD Town were left ruing a missed penalty in their 1-1 draw with rivals Hampton in Midland League Division Two.

The Earls started the game brightly but went into the half-time break a goal down when Ainsley Seivwright netted for the hosts.

After the break Town were forced into an early change, with the injured Luke Bowles going off.

However, Earlswood continued to press and managed to bag the equaliser in the 55th minute after Anton Nunes finished at the far post from Danny Holiday’s inch-perfect cross.

Five minutes later the visitors earned a penalty but Holiday missed from 12 yards, with the Hampton keeper doing well to keep the effort out.

The penalty save reinvigorated Hampton as both sides traded blow for blow but the scores remained level come the full-time whistle.

Earlswood entertain FC Stratford in the Les James Challenge Cup tomorrow (Saturday) while Hampton play host to Coton Green in MFL2.
