KNOWLE and Dorridge suffered a six-wicket defeat at home to Berkswell CC in the Birmingham Premier League Premier Division.

K and D won the toss and elected to bat but quickly slipped to 49-2 after openers Tom Smith (22) and Alex Phillips (5) fell cheaply.

However, the Solihull club recovered to reach 184-4 thanks to an impressive knock of 85 from Amir Khan who was supported well by a host of batters down the order.

James Middleton (24), Carlos Brathwaite (36), Sam Reddish (34) and Jack Grundy (35) all made useful contributions to help K and D close on 269-8 at the end of their 50 overs.

Berkswell fared better in reply, after Ateeq Javid (19) was run out, as Ajay Shingadia (46) helped the visitors reach 96-2.

And C J Whittock would ultimately take Berkswell to victory with an impressive 103 as Neil Dexter (25) and Nick James (55 not out) provided good support to secure victory with two overs to spare.
