BREAKING: Solihull Moors land former Blues midfielder Darren Carter

FOOTBALL: SOLIHULL Moors have signalled their intent to improve on last year’s Vanarama National League performance after landing the signature of midfielder Darren Carter.

Carter, who put pen to paper with the club this afternoon, spent five seasons playing for Birmingham City in the Championship and Premier League.

His finest hour came at the end of the 2001/02 season when he scored the decisive penalty in a shoot out against Norwich City at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium to send the Blues back up into the top flight.

He has since spent time at Sunderland, West Brom, Preston North End, Millwall, Cheltenham, Northampton Town, and Forest Green Rovers – where he helped guide the club to promotion to League Two.

The 33-year-old will join up with his new team mates at pre-season training tomorrow evening as the Moors prepare for their second season in the top flight of non-league football.
