MOTORCYCLE RACING: JOSHUA Boyd overcame electrical issues to register his best performance of the season in Snetterton.
Racing in Round Five of the Superstock 1000 series, Boyd returned to the track after making a full recovery from his crash at the circuit last month.
A determined effort from Boyd’s background staff saw his BMW 1000 rebuilt in weeks instead of months as he qualified in 34th place.
Still lacking power though, Boyd’s team found a break in four out of the one thousand wires within the wiring harness.
Replacing the harness resulted in the bike going back up to 200 horsepower.
Boyd surged from his 34th grid position at the start of the race, beating his personal best time by three seconds and finishing in 24th position.
He said after the race: “Snetterton was to be our first outing after the rebuild and there were bound to be issues to resolve.
“I’m still unable to truly race the bike like I want, but the recurring issues will hopefully be resolved with some new updates for Brands Hatch in two weeks’ time.”
