WARWICKSHIRE’S junior pairs team triumphed at the National Finals at Victoria Park in Leamington.

The women’s junior pair of Emily Kernick (Royal Leamington Spa) and Lily-Mae Adams (Welford) won a thrilling final to retain their title.

The Warwickshire pair recovered from a 6-2 deficit on the fifth end against Surrey’s Jemma Tuohy and Yasmina Hasan to level the game at eight-all after 10 ends.

Warwickshire then claimed five shots on the 11th end to take a commanding lead and eventually sealed a 19-13 victory.

However, the county’s senior fours team of Dawn Horne, Caroline Edwards, Jenny Wickens and Janice White (all Royal Leamington Spa) just missed out on glory.

The Leamington quartet trailed Hampshire in the final until the 17th end when four shots turned the game in Warwickshire’s favour.

However, Hampshire responded to win a close final 13-12 in a thrilling finale.

Warwickshire’s women’s four of Kernick, Michelle Meadowcroft, Ellie Hamblett and Kirsty Richards also triumphed earlier at the National Finals.

The quartet became the from Royal Leamington Spa Bowls Club to win the competition.
