A STRONG performance by Solihull Blossomfield Ladies’ second team saw them record a comfortable 3-0 victory over rivals Old Silhillians.
Ellen Bleumer scored an accurate reverse stick goal to open the scoring after some early pressure from Bloss.
And they continued to enjoy the majority of possession until half-time before going on to wrap up the win in the second period.
Old Silhillians did come out after the break looking to find an equalizer and forced a string of excellent saves out of the home goalkeeper.
However, Blossomfield continued to dominate and were rewarded with two well-converted goals towards the end of the game which were both scored by man-of-the-match Sam Yarnold for well deserved win.
Elsewhere, Solihull Blossomfield Badgers suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Stratford Badgers in what was a closely fought match.
On a bitterly cold afternoon, Bloss defended well with good work from Rhianna Robertson and player of the match Ben Grizzell keeping Stratford at bay.
But towards the end of the first half Stratford took the lead with a well taken shot at the back post.
Bloss reacted strongly and pressed for an immediate equalizer but they did not take advantage of their opportunities in front of goal.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Logan Robertson making some great saves to keep Bloss in the game.
Harry Mowat and Elis Harrison were causing problems to the Stratford defence in attack and they forced a number of fine saves out of the visiting goalkeeper.
Despite maintaining the pressure, Boss were unable to make a breakthrough while at the other end they defended well and did not concede a second.
