Merricks has trained in excess of 60 students to black belt level since his club began 18 years ago as well as producing a host of national and world champions over the years.

“We are all extremely proud at the club of our newly promoted black belts,” said Merricks.

“They all worked really hard to achieve this and thoroughly deserve their success.

“Our Tae Kwon – Do Association, the TAGB is the largest in Britain and on this occasion nearly 500 students from all over the country graded over a 3-day period.

“These students really show anyone that If you prepare well, put the time in and work hard, you will get your rewards.
