SOLIHULL Blossomfield Men’s 1sts hosted Bridgnorth Men’s 2nds in a pretty one-sided affair in which the hosts came out 6-0 winners.

Bloss showed their attacking strength in the first half, racing into a two-goal lead with goals from Sam Lloyd and Tom Bates.

They quickly added another as Richard Weaver collected the ball from a right switch from a short corner, before slapping it into the far corner.

Bloss were totally dominant and managed to add a fourth before half-time when the ball floated upwards for Bates to score with an overhead finish.

Bloss continued their attacking pressure into the second half and soon further increased their lead after Harry Bush fired his shot across the keeper after a good attacking move.

Solihull then managed to weather a brief attacking period from Bridgnorth before they resumed their firm hold on the game, managing a sixth goal off a short corner as Andy Heslop flicked the ball over the stranded keeper to complete the rout.

Blossomfield Men’s 2nds played away at Droitwich 2nds looking for their first win of the season and they did exactly that with a 4-1 win.

With a strong squad, they were able to make a fast start and went 1-0 up after five minutes through a good far post finish by Owen Mansell from Tom Amarnani’s cross.

The rest of the first half saw Bloss continue to be the stronger team and just before half time they went 2-0 up when Ryan Lane finished a scramble in the ‘D’.

Despite playing against the strong wind in the second half, Bloss continued to dominate and they scored two more through Matt Pole’s, his first goal for the club, and Ali Christian after an excellent interchange with Andy Rice.

Droitwich scored near the end for their first goal of the season to complete the scoring.

The Ladies 1sts enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Stone Ladies 1sts.

Stone started strongly, earning a penalty corner in the first two minutes but Bloss soon settled and dominated the game from that point on.

Bloss scored early in the first half in open play through Louise Davis after some beautiful passing down the right.

The hosts enjoyed long periods of possession and despite a number of circle entries, were not able to convert their chances to increase the scoreline going into half time.

Bloss continued their dominance in the second half, again creating numerous chances.

Stone were resolute in defence but Bloss eventually broke them down through the tenacity of Amelia Thompson on the far post.

Solihll were unable to covert a number of short corners and the game finished 2-0 to the hosts.

The Ladies 2nds were held to a 1-1 draw by Edgbaston 3rds.

Bloss were determined to start strong but unfortunately went 1-0 down from a quick break away attack.

However, Bloss regrouped and started to play more passing hockey and put pressure on the Edgbaston defence, resulting in a penalty corner.

A straight strike from Anna Hunt rebounded to Emma Scott, who through sheer determination and a battle with the goalkeeper and the defenders, came out on top and put the ball in the goal.

The second half found both teams battling hard with chances at either end but not resulting in any further goals.
