Bees' impressive six-try haul sinks Rugby Welsh

Solihull Editorial 4th Dec, 2022   0

BIRMINGHAM & Solihull produced an impressive six-try display to prove their title credentials by sinking closest rivals Rugby Welsh.

Welsh had won all nine of their matches in the Counties Three Midlands West (South) but Birmingham & Solihull dominated to win 36-0 in front of a bumper crowd at Portway.

From the whistle, the Bees, unbeaten at home since April 2019, took control and established dominance in the rugby and they opened a 21-0 lead at half-time.

Number eight Jonnie Mills came off the back of the scrum for the first try, left wing Ollie Sanderson outpaced the defence from inside his own half and then right wing PJ Hatch raced through. Fly-half Lewis Edwards converted all three scores.

Mills added his second try with another powerful run and Hatch finished off with his second touchdown after some quick tries.

The result leaves Welsh second, eight points behind the Bees who have played a game more.
