Basement boys Earlswood taste heavy defeat

ANOTHER lackluster display by Earlswood Town saw them lose 9-1 on the road at Droitwich Spa and now sees them firmly entrenched at the foot of the Midland League Second Division table.

Playing against a team that will be among the honours come the end of the season, Earlswood allowed striker James Lennon far too much space and he punished them with six goals on Saturday afternoon.

Earlswood did have more scoring chances than the score suggests but they were never really in the game. Although it was 17 minutes before Droitwich scored their first goal before going on to take a 4-0 lead into half-time.

Droitwich added to their score after 50 minutes and 12 minutes later the sixth goal was scored before Ryan Faulkner pulled a goal back for Earlswood.

Droitwich increased their lead in the 81st minute and added to Earls misery with two more goals in the last two minutes which saw them go on a record breaking breaking run of thirteen games undefeated.

Earlswood are now in desperate need to turn their season around and will be looking for an improvement this Saturday when they travel to Lichfield Under-21s in the Smedley Crooke Cup.
