THE Zoo Accounting Solihull Barons endured a night to forget as they were humbled by an 8-1 home defeat to Solway Sharks on Sunday.
Despite an early Barons powerplay, a well-drilled Sharks led 2-0 at the end of the first period after Peter Gapa pounced twice.
Ruairi Lockerbie and Scott Henderson increased the visitors’ advantage to 4-0 midway through the second period before the Barons got on the scoresheet when Phil Mulcahy scored with a deflected shot from close in.
Any hopes of a Barons comeback were soon dashed as Connor Henderson, Scott Henderson and Jonathan McBean scored three quickfire Solway goals. Lewis Young completed the scoring with the visitors’ eighth.
The Barons are back on home ice on Sunday when they welcome Sheffield Scimitars to Hobs Moat (5.30).
