Youth, 17, arrested after motorist critically injured in serious crash

A MOTORIST remains in a critical condition and a boy, 17, has been bailed after a serious crash in Solihull.

Police are appealing following the collision on Stratford Road in the Shirley area at 11.30pm last night (Thursday, July 18).

The collision involved a black Ford Fiesta and a red Audi A3 on the roundabout at the junction with Marshall Lake Road.

A 65-year-old man from the Audi was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a critical but stable condition, police confirmed today (July 22).




A 17-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving has been released pending further investigation.

Detective sergeant Paul Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I am asking for any witnesses or anyone with information about what happened last night to contact us.


“We are in the early stages of the investigation and we urgently need information on the circumstances that led to the collision.

“If you saw what happened just before the collision or have any dash-cam footage, please speak to us.”
