AN exhibition curated by the Solihull Young Archaeologists’ Club (YAC) to celebrate the history of Elmdon Park is now open for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Solihull YAC members, mostly aged 8-13, have been working with library staff, volunteers and local historian, Stephen Carr, to discover more about Elmdon Park’s past as part of this year’s Festival of Archaeology.
The exhibition, which is being hosted in The Core’s Heritage Gallery until 14 September 2023, showcases the children’s research and archaeological findings.
Councillor Wazma Qais, cabinet member for communities and leisure, said: “This is a great exhibition, charting the park’s development from the old Elmdon Hall Estate to a public space, and is yet another example of the interesting research being carried out by local people.
“I’d encourage everyone to head over to The Core to delve into this fascinating local history, especially during the summer holidays.”
The Solihull YAC are looking for volunteers aged 16 and over, with an interest in history, archaeology and working with children, who can spare two hours per month on a Saturday morning.
