A 79-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in Chelmsley Wood.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident in Chester Road, near the Moor End junction, around 5.45pm last night (Tuesday, November 6).

The woman suffered serious injuries and sadly died in hospital a few hours after being hit.

The driver of the Ford Focus involved remained at the scene and is helping officers with enquiries.

Police constable Michelle O’Brien, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at West Midlands Police, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of this lady and we are supporting them at this traumatic time.

“We are still in the early stages of establishing what happened and would ask anyone with information; or was in the area and has dash cam footage to contact us.”
