STAFF and pupils at Widney Junior School raised £284 for the Eden Suite in memory of a beloved grandson.

Teaching Assistant Tracey Kearney organised a cake sale at the Clifton Cresent school in aid of the ward at Heartlands Hospital which supports families following a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death – a cause close to Tracey’s heart.

She decided to fundraise for the Eden Suite after her son Ryan and his partner Amy received support from the staff there following the loss of their son Jacob when he was born at just 17 weeks.

Tracey said: “Our family suffered a huge loss when, at just 17 weeks, baby boy Jacob was born sleeping.

“The staff at the Eden Suite at Heartlands Hospital were a fantastic support and helped us through a tough time in our lives.

“We would now like to give them something back.

Sian Averill, fundraising manager at Heartlands Hospital said: “A big thank you to Tracey and the staff at Widney Junior School for their efforts in raising this money for the Eden Suite at Heartlands Hospital.”
