Wheel along to Shirley Park this weekend

Solihull Editorial 24th Aug, 2022   0

SHIRLEY is the place to go for cycling activities this bank holiday Sunday, August 28.

Centred on Shirley Park, on offer will be a host of cycling events to suit the whole family, whether it’s to refresh old cycling skills, learn how to ride, or are a more experienced cyclist.

Activities include fun cycle related games for children, group cycle rides, cycle confidence sessions and Dr Bike health checks – to help keep your trusty bike running smoothly and safely.

And if you don’t have a bike, you can borrow one, with bikes available for adults, and children aged over seven-years old.

Despite all the advances of science and technology, the humble bicycle is still the most efficient means of transport invented by humanity.

Not only does it get people from A to B but it’s great fun, it’s a calorie burner and gives your spirits a lift.

On the day Dr Bike will be on hand to fix basic repair needs.

Bike checks and minor repairs are free of charge, for more complex fixes, people will be advised on what is needed and given a rough estimate of cost.

British Cycling ride leaders will be running short group guided rides at regular intervals, where participants can build up their confidence on quiet roads and learn how to ride with a group or as a pair.

A dedicated British Cycling coach, will also be present to help with people wanting to learn to ride, providing tips on how to get started, confidently and safely.
