WEST Midlands Police has been named one of the top 100 apprenticeship employers in the country.

This is the second year running the force has earned a place on the list and it’s a big deal.

Not only is it one of the few police forces to be recognised, but it has also climbed higher in the rankings.

The head of training, T/Superintendent Sarah Tambling, travelled to London to accept the award at a prestigious event held at the House of Lords.

She said: “Accepting this award on behalf of West Midlands Police was a real privilege.

“Being recognised alongside some of the UK’s biggest employers like Amazon, BAE Systems, and Lloyds Bank shows just how far we’ve come.

“Our apprenticeship programmes are helping people from all walks of life take their first steps into rewarding careers, whether that’s in IT, Forensics, or frontline policing.

“Being recognised at this level is a huge achievement and it’s all thanks to the hard work of our teams and the passion of our apprentices.”

Right now, there are over 400 apprentices working across a huge range of departments, including IT and Digital Services, Training and Development, Accountancy and Legal Services, Forensics and Data Analysis.

West Midlands Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) allows apprentices to earn a degree in professional policing practice while working full-time as a police officer and earning a full salary.
