WEST Midlands Police has appointed Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Sarah Boycott as Assistant Chief Constable.

T/ACC Boycott is currently serving with the Cheshire Constabulary where she oversees local policing including neighbourhood policing, firearms, public order, contact and emergency planning.

She was area commander for Warrington and Halton, worked as a Deputy Programme Director at Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and spent two years working for the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, based in New York, travelling extensively to Sudan and Darfur.

Speaking about her appointment, she said: “The West Midlands is a challenging and complex environment and I’m looking forward to joining the team and meeting the challenges that come from unexpected incidents.”

“Meeting people in West Midlands has made me appreciate what an outstanding force it is, with lots of excellent people who are committed and keen to make a difference to communities, which is very close to my heart.”

Deputy Chief Constable Louisa Rolfe welcomed the appointment: “Sarah was an excellent candidate in a remarkably strong field. I’m sure her experience and professionalism will be a great asset to the force.”

David Jamieson, the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner added: “Sarah Boycott will be an excellent addition to West Midlands Police.

“She will be a first-rate Assistant Chief Constable, who brings a wealth of experience to the role, and I look forward to working closely with her to continue to make the West Midlands a safe place to live in, where businesses want to invest.”

Boycott has been married for 24 years, to a now retired police officer.

She’s a keen runner and mountaineer and has represented Cheshire Constabulary at long distance events, often organising successful women’s teams and is chair of the Cheshire Women’s Network.
