COVENTRY, Solihull and the rest of the West Midlands is set to be battered by high winds and heavy rain as Storm Jocelyn arrives in the UK.

According to the Met Office, which has issued a yellow weather warning, with wind gusts of more than 40mph later tonight.

The heavy rain is set to slow down from 4pm on Tuesday (January 23).

The Met Office says there could be some damage to buildings, such as roofs being damage, the risk of injury from flying debris and there could be power cuts.

Road and rail will also be affected with longer journey times, and maybe delays and cancellations, possible. If people are travelling, it is suggested they allow more time for their journeys and take care when on the roads.

Residents should also secure items in their garden, including plant pots, garden furniture and trampolines, in case they get caught by the gusts.
