'We will not be intimidated by mindless vicious criminals' say Earlswood residents following break in

A CONCERNED Earlswood resident is urging people to be aware of a ‘masked gang’ following an aggravated burglary.

The gang – made up of six to seven people – smashed a window at the front of a home in Malthouse Lane before attempting to gain entry to the house by force.

A male occupant attempted to keep the thugs out, but sustained two cuts to his head – forcing him back.

The offenders then demanded keys to the car parked outside before leaving empty handed.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Observer the public need to made aware of the lengths the gang will go to get what they want.

They said: “The next victim may not be as physically able to restrain them.

“It has since transpired there have been several break-ins around the area, mainly focused on unoccupied properties.

“The family are defiant that these ‘unsuccessful homicidal thieves’ will not disrupt their lives.

“The incident has brought the community as a whole even closer together.

“They will not be intimidated by mindless vicious criminals. A police presence in the area and local villages has got to be a priority for Solihull and Birmingham council.

“There can be no more cuts or closure of police, ambulance or fire stations. We have a right to be protected.”

The injured man went to hospital where his injuries were not described to be serious.

Warwickshire Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to call them on 101 and quote ‘incident number one’ of August 25.
