ELDERLY residents in Solihull are set to benefit from an £8,000 donation to a charity that provides vital services for the vulnerable.
Olton Golf Club’s Moray Hulme – captain for the 2018/19 season – chose Age UK Solihull as his charity during his year in the position.
And thanks to the generosity of he and its members, the club raised a generous £8,050.
Age UK Solihull offers information, advice and support to around 10,000 older people in the borough each year. It says all the money raised by supporters stays in the community to help pay for its services.
Fundraising manager at the charity Lorraine Hart said: “We were delighted and very grateful that Moray chose to support us during his year as captain.
“Many older people stay fit and healthy by playing golf and also benefit from the social side of the sport.
“The money raised will help us continue to support older people, who need our help.
“This could be to help provide companionship or practical help.
“We’d like to thank all the members at the club for their generous support.”
Mr Hulme said: “The members were delighted with my chosen charity and consistently supported events throughout the year.
“We know that the funds raised will benefit local people, it was a pleasure to support such a great charity.”
