VOLUNTEERS came out in force for local Saqib Bhatti MP’s ‘Keep Meriden Tidy’ weekend.

Community groups across the constituency joined the initiative last weekend, July 3-4, in support of the MP’s clean up campaign.

As part of the drive , volunteers got litter picking in Chelmsley Wood, Hampton in Arden, Knowle, Balsall Common and Kingshurst, with people also organising clean ups on their own roads.

“It was fantastic to be out this weekend alongside dedicated local volunteers cleaning up our communities,” said Mr Bhatti.

“I was blown away by the commitment and selflessness shown by all the volunteers who supported with litter picks.

“A special thank you to the community groups who got involved: Clean and Green, Visit Knowle, Knowle Society, Knowle and Dorridge Lions, Balsall Common Litter Pickers, Hampton Wombles, Love Solihull and everyone who did their bit to keep our community clean.

“I particularly enjoyed speaking with volunteers and discussing ways we can work together going forward to ensure we have cleaner and greener communities.”
