VILLAGERS in Hockley Heath took to the streets to speak out about housing plans.
More than 70 Hockley Heath residents marched through the village on a community walk calling for the surrounding countryside to remain designated as greenbelt.
Organisers, Hockley Heath Action Group, say the walk highlighted widespread concern that reclassification to greybelt land could pave the way for unsustainable development, stretching local roads, services, and infrastructure beyond breaking point.
MP Saqib Bhatti joined the march to pledge his full support, while a children’s drawing competition underscored the community’s commitment to safeguarding the village for future generations.
Chair of the Hockley Heath Action Group, Peter Sylvester, said: “Once again, we are extremely grateful to Saqib Bhatti MP for his total support and interaction with our community. It’s great to know that we can rely upon him”
