Veterans remember fallen comrades

VETERANS fell silent to remember their comrades and loved ones at the Royal Star and Garter Homes.

Solihull resident Brian, who served in the Royal Artillery, laid a wreath at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

Members of the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Naval Nursing Service and Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps attended the Armistice Day service, on November 11.

A bugler also performed lead the two-minute silence with The Last Post and there were a number of readings during the service.




In the lead up to Armistice Day residents at the home, which cares for veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia, painted poppies and took part in other crafts.

This year Royal Star & Garter’s Remembrance campaign, They gave their all for us, highlighted how young some of the charity’s residents were when they joined the Armed Forces, and looked at how Royal Star and Garter is able to give back to them each day.
