Vehicle crime priority across Solihull

VEHICLE crime has remained a top priority for Solihull’s neighbourhood police teams.

Officers have carried out Speedwatch events with volunteers across the borough.

The St Alphege team checked 200 cars in Church Hill Road, finding one car which was driving at 48mph in a 30mph zone.

Another Speedwatch was held in Danford Lane, with 775 vehicles checked and seven found to be speeding.

Officers from the Lyndon, Elmdon, Olton and Silhill team took part in a free bike-marking event at Solihull Hospital to help bike owners keep their property safe.

West Midlands Police said: “Vehicle crime remains a priority for us, with a number of cars seized across the borough for offences including dangerous driving and not having insurance.

“Every day we carry out proactive patrols and operations to keep you and your property safe.”

The Smith’s Wood team seized a car parked in Kingshurst after it was found to be untaxed, while the Rurals team seized another car after it was found being driven without insurance or tax.

And in Castle Bromwich, officers recovered a moped which been stolen in a robbery last month.
