THE Courtyard Gallery at the Core Theatre has kicked off the week by hosting its first ever virtual exhibition in celebration of the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
This Friday, May 8, the Core Theatre was due to host a VE Day street party celebration, however, this was cancelled due to the current government restrictions.
Still determined to find a way to create a shared moment of celebration, gallery employees started contacting local artists asking for artwork to commemorate VE Day and as the team said: “They well and truly delivered!”
From the start of this week they will be sharing a variety of artwork from a selection of talented artists from across the region, all along the theme of VE Day and the Second World War.
“We are delighted to be able to showcase some of these fantastic works of art online even though our gallery building remains closed at this time,” said a spokesperson for the gallery.
If you have any artwork you would like to add to the exhibition, please get in touch with Kirstie at [email protected]

The exhibition runs until Tuesday, May 12.
