CHORISTERS from Valley Primary School have been handed £1,000 towards a school project of their choice after winning the Touchwood School Choir competition 2017.

Over December 20 schools from across the borough took centre stage in the shopping centre’s annual contest in a bid to win the coveted title and spread some festive cheer.

Despite strong competition, the singers from Valley Primary School were handed the prestigious title of Touchwood School Choir Competition Winners 2017 after receiving the most votes.

The choir were chosen as the overall winners after guests were blown away by their seasonal renditions of Twelve Days of Christmas and Santa Clause is Coming to Town, which helped to inject some Christmas spirit into shoppers.

Jon Hilditch, music coordinator and year five class teacher at Valley Primary School, said: “We are so pleased to have won Touchwood’s infamous Christmas choir competition and the pupils are absolutely delighted.

“We worked very hard on the day to provide guests the best possible performance, and have decided that the money will go towards enhancing the music curriculum as well as musical instruments.”
