A MAJOR gas leak has led to a lane closure of the A45 near Birmingham Airport.
Cadent engineerings worked through the night to stop the leak and reopen the road between Damson Parkway and Hatchford Brook.
On Monday (November 3) Coventry Road was closed both directions due to a burst gas pipe in the Elmdon area.
Craig Hansbury, Head of Operational Delivery at Cadent said: “We have worked throughout the night to bring the situation under control, working with the emergency services and local authority.
“We are pleased that we have completed this work without disruption to local gas supplies. Now we start the work to compete a full repair.”
Cadent say the lane closure either side of the A45, Coventry Road from the junction of Damson Parkway to Glencroft Road will remain in place for approximately two weeks, whilst work to repair to the gas pipe under the road is completed.
