Up to £1.3m funding opportunity for Solihull charities

Solihull Editorial 20th May, 2018   0

A WEST MIDLANDS charity has announced its ‘largest ever’ funding programme for the vulnerable after a mysterious £4million donation – and applicants in Solihull are now invited to bid for up to £1.35million.

Heart of England Community Foundation (HECF) has launched its Building Better Lives programme after receiving an anonymous donation of £4 million in December last year.

Its ‘largest ever’ grants programme will support a maximum of three major initiatives providing accommodation solutions for vulnerable people.

Applicants are invited to submit proposals for projects which will upgrade, extend or develop existing accommodation to provide additional capacity.

The approach has been taken in a move to help organisations expand and develop their services to support a range of client groups experiencing disadvantage.

Stage one of the two-stage application process is now open, with organisations invited to make their submissions until midday on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.

Organisations can bid for a minimum of £500,000 and a maximum of £1.35million, and applicants must operate within Birmingham, the Black Country, Coventry, Solihull or Warwickshire and have an annual turnover of less than £15million.

Heart of England Community Foundation, a specialist grant-making charity launched in 1995, awards funding to projects across the West Midlands and has distributed more than £15 million locally, benefitting more than one million people.

Tina Costello, chief executive of HECF, said: “We are very excited to launch the Building Better Lives programme and can’t wait to see the variety of proposals from local organisations.

“This programme has a real potential to make a massive difference to vulnerable people and provides a unique opportunity for existing organisations to expand their work and increase their impact in the community.”
