IT’S THAT time of year when fun runners are being asked to dust down their running shoes and get in training ready for this year’s extended Knowle Fun Run.
The Knowle and Dorridge Lions have opened the website for entries to encourage runners to start training early and get their friends and colleagues to join them for the annual Knowle on Sunday, May 21.
This year for the first time in the event’s 33-year history runners of all ages will be able to choose between 10k over two extended laps or 5k one lap.
There will also be the chance for runners to set their personal best time this year and when they return next year they can see how the time compares to previously.
Runners will be Junior (under 14 on the day of the run) or Adult and may run as individuals, deciding whether they will run 5k or 10k; or may enter alongside three others for one of the three team competitions – Juniors 5k or any age 5k or any age 10k.
The Lions have nominated three Prostate Cancer UK, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and Motor Neurone Disease Association as the chosen charities for this year’s run and as usual they will donate 30 per cent of everything to local causes.
Runners can choose to make a donation as they enter online, or get their run sponsored by downloading a sponsorship form or signing up to MyDonate where you can nominate your own special cause, if they wish.
