Two Solihull gyms get £1m transformation

TWO gyms in Solihull have been transformed following a £1million investment.

The fitness suites at North Solihull Sports Centre and Tudor Grange Leisure Centre have been improved after renovations undertaken by new leisure operators Everyone Active, the council says.

The provider took on the management of the centres in June on behalf of Solihull council.

North Solihull Sports Centre, on Conway Road, unveiled its new-look gym on Saturday, July 21, with the Tudor Grange centre on Blossomfield Road following suit a week later on July 28.

Both facilities have benefitted from state-of-the-art gym kit including specialist equipment for people with disabilities, the council says.

New equipment has been installed and more space has been dedicated to functional (body) training, giving visitors the option of a ‘more varied workout’.

The council also announced the new equipment can link with fitness apps to provide users with a complete record of their training and exercise programmes.

On Thursday (August 8), councillor Joe Tildesley, Solihull council’s cabinet member for leisure, tourism and sport, visited North Solihull Sports Centre.

Coun Tildesley said: “Everyone Active has invested in some fantastic new equipment to help motivate everyone to keep active.

“I was particularly impressed with the new kit for people with disabilities and the increase specialist classes for people with long term health problems.

“It was really encouraging to see so many people at the gym using the equipment and improving their fitness levels.”

Wayne Desmond, contract manager at Everyone Active, added: “I am delighted with the finished results of these refurbishments. “It’s essential that our facilities continue to meet the needs of our customers, and this can only be achieved through investment and improvement.

“We want to help more people lead a healthy, active lifestyle.

“I really hope that these upgrades encourage more people to come down and make use of the new equipment, as well as the other fantastic activities we offer across the two centres.”
