FOLLOWING the success of the Autumn series of Twilight Taster sessions, Solihull Sixth Form College is holding more tasters this Spring to give students an opportunity to try out BTEC and T level courses before they make an application.
Ten such sessions took place in October and November, giving GCSE learners the chance to get a taste of 18 different Level 3 courses on offer at the College.
Four more tasters are taking place this Spring, as follows:
- BTEC IT Taster – Tuesday 7 February 2023 (5.00 – 6.00pm)
- BTEC Creative Digital Media Taster – Tuesday 7 February 2023 (5.00 – 6.00pm)
- T level Education & Childcare Taster – Monday 13 February 2023 (4.30 – 5.30pm)
- T level Education & Childcare Taster – Wednesday 19 April 2023 (4.30 – 5.30pm)
All the tasters take place after school and involve lessons of 60 minutes in duration with specialist teachers in all subject areas. Other like-minded learners from across Birmingham and Solihull will be present too.
College Vice Principal Janice Hamilton said: “The Autumn taster sessions were a lot of fun, but they were also very helpful to learners who were unsure of their post-16 ambitions.
“The events gave learners an opportunity to see what A level, BTEC and T level lessons are like and see if particular courses would suit them. For those learners who are thinking about studying IT, Media and Childcare courses, I would urge them to sign up to these Spring tasters to help them make decisions for their futures.”
The tasters are for learners only (not parents/carers) and it is necessary to book a place on the College website at https://www.solihullsfc.ac.uk/tasters.
There is also one final chance for learners and carers to meet teachers in all curriculum areas, when the College holds an Open Evening on Monday 23 January 2023.
Those wishing to also book a place at this event can do so at https://www.solihullsfc.ac.uk/open-days.
All students attending the Open Evening must come accompanied by a parent/carer.
