THE IMPORTANCE of a healthy diet has been highlighted to veterans at the Royal Star and Garter during Nutrition and Hydration Week.

Residents at the charity’s Solihull Home created fruit kebabs using raspberries, grapes, strawberries, melon, kiwi and banana and had smoothies during the week, which took place between March 11 and 17.

Shirley Hall, director of care and wellbeing at Royal Star and Garter, said: “A good diet

and hydration are crucial in supporting the health of people.

“It can strengthen the immune system, prevent disease, improve brain health and cognitive functions and boost energy levels.”
