Trio of Local Firms Snap Up Final Spaces at Solihull’s Revamped Estate

A once-underused business park in Solihull is now a hive of activity after three local companies swooped in to claim the final remaining units, marking a major milestone in the site’s transformation.

The Woodside Industrial Estate in Kingshurst is now fully let, with a flurry of small businesses calling it home, thanks in no small part to a council-backed refurbishment and growth support package.

West Midlands commercial property specialists Shepherd Commercial were drafted in earlier this year to help bring the estate up to scratch, and their efforts have paid off.

The last three 412 sq ft units were snapped up by AR Quinn Electrical Contractors, Cameron Construction, and CRDH Electrical, joining a thriving community of independent firms already trading on site.

And it’s not just four walls and a roof they’re getting, tenants also benefit from tailored SME support courtesy of Solihull Council, including help with funding, tech upgrades, and supply chain shifts.

“The work the council has done to enable this scheme to reach its potential and pose an attractive choice for businesses has been fantastic,” said Kaine Arkinson, managing director at Shepherd Commercial.

“Competitive pricing and a real appetite for light industrial space in the area meant these opportunities were snapped up very quickly, and it’s fantastic to see a thriving business community at Woodside.”

The success follows a major refurbishment and diagnostics programme undertaken by the council in 2024 – part of a push to provide affordable, flexible space for the region’s growing army of entrepreneurs.

Councillor Ian Courts, deputy leader of Solihull Council and cabinet member for managed growth, said the fully-let site was a vote of confidence in local business.

He said: “The success of Woodside Industrial Estate is a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit of our local businesses and the commitment of Solihull Council to supporting them.

“By ensuring high-quality industrial space is available and providing tailored SME support, we are helping businesses thrive, adapt to new challenges, and seize new opportunities.”

With gated access, allocated parking, and a prime location close to the M6 and M42, the estate has proven a hot ticket for fast-growing firms.

The new arrivals join established tenants including All Seasons Refurbishment, The Window Cleaning Group, and M&L Designers, cementing Woodside’s status as a booming base for Solihull’s small business scene.
