Tributes paid to woman found dead in Lidl car park

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife following the discovery of a woman’s body on a supermarket car park in the early hours of Monday morning.

The 42-year-old was detained on the car park of Lidl in Mackadown Lane just before 5am.

Early indications suggest the woman had been attacked with a bladed weapon.

The victim has been named on Facebook as Gillian Zvomuya, pictured, who has been described as an ‘amazing mother’.

Police are waiting to question her husband, who was arrested at the scene and is currently in hospital.

A police spokesperson said: “Tragically the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was arrested on suspicion of her murder.

“The woman’s family have been informed and are being supported by trained officers.

“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the cause of the woman’s death.

“Our deepest sympathies are with the woman’s family and we would like to reassure them we are doing absolutely everything we can to provide them with the answers they so desperately need.”

Tributes to Gillian have flooded social media.

“May your soul rest in peace Gillian. May God comfort your family,” said one friend.

“This is not right, not like this,” added another, while a further tribute read: “I am so heartbroken, I can’t believe you are gone. This life is painful.”

Anyone with information which may help the inquiry should call police on 101. People who don’t want to speak to police officers directly can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
