HEARTFELT tributes have poured in for an ‘amazing’ teenage girl who has died after being hit by a bus in Sheldon.

Flowers, balloons and messages have been left in Sheaf Lane for Sophie Jain Fletcher, who was struck by the bus at around 3pm on Saturday (March 18).

The 15-year-old was seriously injured and confirmed dead shortly after arriving at hospital.

Leading the tributes, Sophie’s parents said: “She was a beautiful young girl with an amazing personality and presence to match.

“She will be so greatly missed by all her family, friends whether in or outside of school.

“Mommy will always hold your hand and you will always be daddy’s little princess.

“Fly high our beautiful Sophie Soph. We will love you forever and always, Mommy and Daddy.”

West Midlands Police said specialist officers continue to support Sophie’s family during this distressing time.

At the Sheaf Lane bus stop, messages from friends, family and loved ones have been left.

One read: “RIP gorgeous girl. I’m going to miss you so much. I love you Sophie.”

Another said: “Beautiful Sophie, a piece of you will always live on in the hearts of all those who loved you.”

Another simply read: “RIP Little Angel.”

Abid Butt, principal at Lyndon School, said: “Everyone at Lyndon School extends heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Sophie Fletcher, who sadly lost her life in an accident at the weekend.

“Sophie was a very popular and much-loved member of our community who will be greatly missed by us all.

“We are supporting her family, friends and the wider school community at this very sad time.”

West Midlands Police said the driver of the bus is helping with enquiries as they establish the full circumstances around the collision.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage should contact police via live chat on the police website or email [email protected] and quote log 2467 of March 18.
