Touchwood names charity of the year

Solihull Editorial 12th May, 2023   0

TOUCHWOOD shopping centre has announced that it has chosen Solihull Mind as its Charity of the Year for 2023.

The centre says the partnership with the local charity will ensure Touchwood’s community will continue to thrive and grow.

Solihull Mind provides advice, information and support across all aspects of mental health, whether it be through offering one-to-one counselling, practical help such as financial advice, or access to tailored support groups.

The charity is driven by the ethos that people who have mental health problems have the same rights as any other person, and the right to live an ordinary life in the community with the necessary support to ensure fulfilment and independence.

The local branch is affiliated with Mind’s national network of over 110 organisations and has worked in the borough of Solihull for nearly 40 years.

Dave Skerrett, Chair of Solihull Mind, said: “We are looking forward to developing the relationship, which we anticipate will not only be hugely beneficial to both organisations, but, more importantly, will help us to maintain our current services and also provide the opportunity to develop and deliver more mental health support for the people of Solihull.”

Tony Elvin, General Manager at Touchwood, said: “Mental health is a hugely important part of all of our lives and a cause close to the hearts of many of our team here at Touchwood. By partnering with Solihull Mind, we hope to raise awareness of mental health issues and extend this crucial support service within our local community.”
