GREEN-FINGERED pupils dug deep and planted a tree to commemorate Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee and her life.

Tidbury Green School’s Eco Team chose a purple acer, which was supplied by Shines Environmental Ltd, as it reminded them of her State Imperial Crown.

Pupils from across the school also created artwork to mark her jubilee in the summer with portraits of the Queen.

Rosalind Fitter, headteacher said: “We were delighted when our Eco Team of pupils put forward their idea of planting a special tree to commemorate both Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee and also her life’s work and dedication to service.

“Pupils felt that a special place and tree was needed to remember her for years and years to come with a fitting tribute to such a special and important monarch.

“Pupils at Tidbury Green School have been inspired by Queen Elizabeth II, particularly her extraordinary commitment to charity endeavours throughout her reign.”
