ADRENALIN-seeking Silhillians are being called on to take part in a Zip Wire challenge for a brain injury charity.
Headway has organised a trip to Zip World at Penrhyn Quarries in Bethesda, Gwynedd where participants will take on the full Velocity zip line experience.
The trip, organised for Saturday 22 March 2025, includes return coach travel from the charity’s brain injury hub in Rednal .
Julie Wedgbury, communications and fundraising manager at Headway Birmingham and Solihull, said: “This promises to be a fantastic day out! Velocity is said to be the fastest zip line in the world and it is certainly one of the fastest in Europe.”
She explained that Headway’s Charity Zip Wire offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy an experience of a lifetime while raising much-need funds for a charity that does so much to help those with an acquired brain injury.
The Veocity experience includes check-in at Zip World, a kit-up to include safety briefing and harness fitting and then the Little Zip, a smaller zip line travelling at around 30-40mph to give a taste of the main adventure ahead.
After that, it will be a truck ride up to the top of the mountain ready for the Big Zip, where participants will soar along at an exhilarating 100+mph, with beautiful views.
The charity is asking for £25 to register by February 12, and then a further £125 in sponsorship.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the charity’s local brain injury services, helping improve life for both those with an acquired brain injury and their families/carers.
Participants must be under 130kg (approx. 20st 7lb) and over 1.2m (approx. 4ft) tall, and under 18s can take part if accompanied by an adult.
